Terms & Conditions
ENROLMENT
A minimum of one full term is recommended for students wishing to take the Cambridge or IELTS exams. Students unable to attend for a full term may enrol on any Monday (by arrangement). The minimum period of enrolment for General English is 2 weeks.
Please note that our courses are not suitable for beginners.
HOW TO ENROL
Students should complete the enrolment form and return it to Oxford House or an accredited agent together with the Course Deposit (see dates & fees). This deposit includes a non-returnable registration fee (see dates & fees). The remainder is an advance of tuition fees. Once the deposit has been received, accommodation arrangements can be made and students will be sent a letter of acceptance. This may be necessary when arranging entry into the U.K.
CONDITIONS OF ENROLMENT
- The course deposit must be paid before the school can reserve a place on a course or arrange accommodation.
- Fees must be paid in full on or before the first day of a student's course.
- A full refund of fees (less the registration fee) will be made where a cancellation is made 4 weeks or more before the start of a course. In other circumstances, such as serious illness, a refund may be made. However, this will be at the sole discretion of the school. No refunds should be expected where a student decides to take a holiday within a course or to terminate their course earlier than arranged.
- The school reserves the right to alter dates or fees at short notice if this becomes necessary, and to terminate a student’s course where conduct, attitude or attendance is unsatisfactory.
- Students are responsible for the cost of any damage they may cause, whether at the school or at their accommodation.
TUITION FEES
Fees are inclusive of a coursebook, notepaper, use of the school's study, leisure and sports facilities, broadband wi-fi internet access, transport in the school minibus, tea & coffee and use of the student kitchens.
PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
Except on short summer courses, there are no classes on public holidays, although the school's self-study/leisure facilities will remain available to students on these days where they fall within the working week.
INSURANCE
Before coming to the school, students should arrange insurance to cover travel, personal property and health during their stay.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation fees (see dates & fees) should be added to the tuition fees in order to work out the all-inclusive cost of the course. The school will do its best to find accommodation according to the preferences given in the enrolment form. However this may not always be possible, and students should be prepared to accept reasonable alternative arrangements. In particular, accommodation with homestay providers offering private bathroom facilities, is in short supply and we cannot guarantee this type of accommodation at all times.
Where laundry is done by the homestay provider, there may be a small extra charge for this service.
HOMESTAY PROVIDERS
(host family or private home accommodation):
It is important to know that, although most homestay providers are families in the conventional sense, they may also be single parent families, single, divorced or widowed people willing to offer accommodation to our students. All homestay accommodation is inspected for its suitability by our Accommodation Officer.
METHODS OF PAYMENT
A. DEPOSITS AND FEES SENT IN ADVANCE:
either
- By bank transfer (details provided upon request), or
- By cheque (Sterling cheque - drawn on a London Bank) sent to the school.
Please make sure cheques are payable to ‘Oxford House School Of English’.
B. BALANCE OF FEES:
This should be paid by bank transfer or cheque (as above), or by travellers’ cheques (in pounds Sterling) or in cash on the first day of the course.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE SCHOOL RECEIVES THE EXACT STERLING AMOUNT,
ALLOWING FOR ALL BANK CHARGES.
